These photos were taken with a Kodak disposable camera (without flash) purchased at the Dallas Airport en route to Belize City, Jan. 3rd 2001. I proceeded directly to Caye Caulker, a island of about 1500 folks and many golf carts. I read Tolstoy's War and Peace and ate Lobster Burritos and drank Panty Rippers (local coconut rum and pineapple juice).

The view from my Cabin (#8) at Ignacio's Beach Cabins

Hut, boat, sea

I want to own this red house, note boat called "Politics"

Caye Caulker is a fishing village as evidenced by fihsing docks

Coming up on Ignacio's Cabins from the beach path

A good example of the Belizian style house built by German Mennonites

The"Split" where the island divides into two

Cool palapa huts the island is building as part of the post-hurricane fix-up

A Reggae bar called I & I where the bar stools are swings

Around the split where the sailboats moor up

A little park as seen from Front Street, note other side of island

Check the cool twin-prop plane taking off

A little playground as seen from Front st. which runs along one side of the island -- see the other side of the island over yonder

Ras Creek (with hat in back of boat) takes snorkel tours to the reef and makes a wicked conch ceviche

On Ras Creek's tour, we stopped to swim with Nurse sharks and Rays

This little dude was on the boat trip I went on to the reef. He lives in Van BC and plays hockey

My neighbor Brian who helped folks accomodations and herb, i nicknamed him the "minister of tourism"

Some friends i met along the way -- from Finland, Scotland, US, Belize

"Il Biscarro" an Italian restourant run by an ex-pat. Good view looking back down Front street

Ignacio's son Reuben rents out the cabins while his dad rakes the sand
